Bioavailability can be generally documented by a systematic exposure profile obtaining by measuring drug or metabolite concentration in the systematic circulation over time.

Bioequivalence studies should be conducted for the comparison of two medicinal products containing the same active substance. Two products marketed by different licensees, containing same active ingredients, must be shown to be therapeutically equivalent to one another in order to be considered interchangeable.

1. Comparative BA/BE studies, in which the active drug substance or one or more metabolites is measured in an accessible biological fluid such as plasma, blood or urine
2. Comparative pharmacodynamics studies in humans
3. Comparative clinical trials
4. in-vitro dissolution tests
